Summer 2026 Activities
SLUH Hockey has a long-standing tradition of skating on Monday nights in June and July. Our primary focus is on skill development while also creating an atmosphere for the players to compete in small area games.

TRYOUT PROCESS
VARSITY
Varsity tryouts are by invitation only.
Invitations will be emailed to the players and families.
Varsity will roster 30 players.
Historically the Varsity team will have 25 rostered players that are Varsity Only and 5 rostered players that are SWING players that will play on both the Varsity and JV Blue team.
JUNIOR VARSITY & B-TEAM
All registered players that have not been placed on the Varsity team are to attend the Junior Varsity tryouts.
Each Junior Varsity Team will have 20 to 25 rostered players.
Our Junior Varsity teams are tiered by skill level. The JV Blue Team is considered the higher level JV team.
Our B-Team is comprised of Freshman and Sophomores only. Juniors and Seniors are not elligible to participate at this level.
FINALIZING ROSTERS
VARSITY
25 of Varsity rostered positions will be filled after the second tryout.
We typically will leave 5 positions open to be filled by December 31st.
All players will be notified of their placement immediately after the second Varsity tryout.
All players that do not earn a roster position on the Varsity team will report to Junior Varsity tryouts.
JUNIOR VARSITY & B-TEAM
We will place 20 to 25 players on each Junior Varsity team and B-Team.
Players will continue to be evaluated at all practices to ensure that we have placed them on the appropriate team. This means that players can be moved between teams at the coaches discretion.
All players will be notified of their placement immediately after tryouts.
PLAYERS THAT PARTICIPATE IN FALL SPORTS THAT CONFLICT WITH TRYOUTS AND PRACTICES
Each player MUST RECEIVE APPROVAL from their Fall Coach in order to participate in hockey tryouts.
If a player misses tryouts due to fall sports conflicts, we will tentatively place them on an appropriate leveled team when they are cleared to begin participating in practice. The player will be evaluated over a period of practices to determine the appropriate team placement.
